The season of respiratory viruses is upon us. For those who prefer not to subject themselves to untested vaccines and vaccines with no proven efficacy and questionable safety, a game plan is needed. Heck a game plan is needed even for those who DO choose to get vaccinated as the current flu and covid vaccines have proven again and again to provide little protection against infection and no benefit in preventing transmission to others.
Prescription antivirals like Tamiflu (olseltamivir) can have life-threatening side effects and again, do not prevent infection or stop transmission.
(Remember the media peeling their collective faces off over the miniscule risk of cardiac QT prolongation with the safe and affordable drug Hydroxychloroquine?? Funny they make no mention of higher cardiac risks with Tamiflu.
In fact there is quite a list of children under 16 who, within 48 hours of starting Tamiflu, attempted to kill themselves or others.
How does a drug get FDA approval when, at best, the only benefit seen was feeling a little better 16 hours sooner than someone who didn't take the drug??
A Cochrane review provides the most exhaustive and extensive scientific review of a drug and the literature and studies surrounding said drugs. One must then ask himself why these drugs are being prescribed when stringent scientific reviews, available on the NIH's own webpage, show high risk of harm and little to no efficacy. (I think we can assume the almighty dollar and greed are the reasons for the mass prescribing of such ineffective and dangerous drugs.)
It gets worse though. This drug is often prescribed to pregnant women. Tamiflu is a pregnancy class C drug. What does that mean?
Why do obstetricians tell pregnant women this drug is safe in pregnancy when no studies have been done to prove safety? Why risk harm to the pregnant woman and her child when a Cochrane review showed the drug to have no real efficacy?
Sadly, these are the times we find ourselves in. The FDA is asleep at the wheel and so is the CDC. Doctors are taking their cues from big pharma and a broken public health system and WE are paying the price.
Maybe it's time to consider some common sense measures to manage viral respiratory illnesses. Here is a link to my latest video where I discuss over-the- counter interventions that do indeed make sense.
